Kabbelaarsbank - Nature

The nature reserve Kabbelaarsbank is located on the Grevelingenmeer, roughly halfway along the Brouwersdam, between Goeree-Overflakkee and Schouwen-Duiveland.
What can you expect at the Kabbelaarsbank?
It is a surprisingly varied place for anyone who wants to escape the bustle of the beach, dam and watersports for a while.
Varied nature reserve: The Kabbelaarsbank consists of a lovely mix of woodland, open sandy areas, grassland, reed beds, marshy sections, pools and shores along the Grevelingenmeer. This means a walk here feels different every time.
- Created after the Brouwersdam: The area developed after the closure of the Brouwersdam in 1971. What was once mainly a bare sandbank grew into a small-scale nature reserve. The woodland was planted in 1974, while much of the other nature developed spontaneously.
Short walking routes: For walkers, the Kabbelaarsbank is very accessible. There are marked routes:
- Blue, around 3 kilometres.
- Yellow, around 1.5 kilometres.
