Regional products: the taste of Voorne
Rockanje lies in the heart of agricultural Voorne, a green island of polders, orchards and farms. Behind the dunes runs a rich short supply chain, where farmers and growers bring their produce straight to the customer.
- Meat from local meadows: the neighbouring village of Oostvoorne is home to Westvoorns Weidevlees, honest beef from cattle grazing the polders, sold directly from the farm, of excellent quality and with no additives.
- Fruit and vegetables in season: in the fertile polders around Brielle, fruit growers have raised apples, pears and soft fruit for generations, complemented by fresh seasonal vegetables, potatoes and eggs from the island's many farm shops.
- Farmhouse cheese, honey and more: let yourself be surprised too by creamy farmhouse cheese, fresh dairy, local honey and even locally brewed beer, brought together under the Voedselfamilies Voorne-Putten, who promote the local produce together.
- Out and about in the polder: hop on your bike and collect your shopping straight from the farmer, along one of the regional-produce routes and farm shops the island offers, wholesome and honest food from the land.
